Adding to my never-ending list of fashion trends I love, the sporty chic trend seen in a variety of recent runway shows is quickly climbing the charts as one of my favorites. There’s something about layering basic knits with the right touch of flair that draws one’s attention to your impeccable style. The ability to take the ordinary and turn it into the extraordinary is a feat that I’m dedicated to conquer.
Brunello Cucinelli’s fall 2015 ready-to-wear collection brought everything that I envisioned for what sporty chic should look like to life. Titled “Wild Luxury,” Cucinelli’s collection featured luxurious cashmere furs (they were laced with diamond knots!) paired with simple separates in tones of mineral shades and winter whites. Instead of heels the models wore sneakers and boots which contributed to the overall look of the collection. The simplicity of the ensembles is what made them that much more stunning and what draws your attention to the main event of his collection: fur.
Inspired by Cucinelli’s wild luxury style, I decided to have a go at it. One of my favorite looks from the collection featured gray drop crotch pants with an oversized white T-shirt and a large fur coat. As I rummaged through my closet, I noticed that my oversized long line T-shirt from H&M matched perfectly with my gray leggings. It was easy sailing from there on.
I paired my matching pant/shirt set with a brown faux fur vest. With the summer heat barely reaching its peak, I know what you’re all thinking—how can I stand to wear fur in this excruciating heat? Truth be told, my faux fur vest is light and breathable, allowing me to take this wild style anywhere, anytime. I completed my ensemble with black Timberland boots and my white backpack. To add to my lack, I stacked on gold rings, gold braided hoops and a black and gold choker. I added a touch of color with Jeffree Star’s Abused velour liquid lipstick.
Sporty chic is a gift from the fashion gods. We no longer have an excuse to wear oversized T-shirts and Nike shorts without it being absolutely fabulous. With the trend so easy to accomplish, there truly is a style for any and every Fashionista.
