STYLE GURU STYLE: Whoa, Just Take It Easy Man

Goodbye, office. Hello, vacation! Lately, it must feel like we’re always on the go, running around everywhere. We sometimes forget that it’s okay to kick back and relax sometimes. These relaxed silhouettes were evident in kate spade new york’s spring 2015 ready-to-wear collection. Summer is here, and it’s time to switch out those black pumps with some sandals.

Similar to most of the looks of the collection, this outfit aimed for loose outlines, but still preserving the ladylike figure. I tried to interpret the same leisurely vibe in my own outfit, most notably with the black maxi skirt. The skirt allows for comfort, while maintaining an easy, breezy appearance. Black is a classy color that looks slimming on anyone.

Many of the models were also wearing brightly colored sun hats. I have always been a fan of my hats, so it was only natural for me to throw on the straw hat, especially in the sweltering heat. Stripes were a popular pattern in kate spade new york’s collection, which was translated into the black and white striped top I wore. Spicing up the outfit, I layered a few delicate gold necklaces and bracelets to finish out the look. For shoes, I just wore my favorite white sandals. As the skirt was so long, choosing the shoe style wasn’t really a priority; maximum comfort was the key factor. And of course, to top it all off, no day under the sun is complete without my Van Heusen cat-eye sunglasses.

Overall, my outfit was just a culmination of a few basic essentials found in everyday wardrobe. It’s a laid back and versatile look. Wear it when you travel, to the beach or even to brunch with the girls.

Get My Look: 1. Straw hat. 2. Striped tank top. 3. Maxi skirt.
