My favorite part about summer is the warm weather, beach trips and, most importantly, sporting my summer whites. Most of us have heard the rule that white is only allowed to be worn from Memorial Day to Labor Day. Even though this rule is becoming outdated, I still feel best wearing white during the summer months. White can be a tricky color to wear sometimes, but if you do it right, it looks amazing (especially with a tan). The Ralph Lauren fall 2014 ready-to-wear collection creates the perfect silhouettes using the color white and other pastels. I really love how this collection is so diverse; Ralph Lauren really does his best to mix it up a bit. This show was his debut of a new direction for his Polo label and “leggings paired with patent Mary Janes and rag wool socks worn with platform sandals reinforced the idea that the new collection is aimed at a young crowd.” Look 18 was my personal favorite from this runway show; I loved how the dress laid and all of the beading that glistened down the runway.
For today’s look I tried to add my own bohemian twist on a rather sophisticated runway collection. I wanted to mimic the dress from look 18 of Ralph Lauren’s fall 2014 ready-to-wear collection, so I chose a slip dress from Free People. Since the dress was so simple, I accentuated with plenty of accessories. The boho tone of this ensemble comes from my floral headwrap by Aldo. My accessories include a plethora of Alex and Ani bangles, David Yurman bracelets and a wrap bracelet from Etsy. For shoes, I went with a brown gladiator sandal from Forever 21.
Fashionistas, don’t be afraid to wear all white. Sometimes a whiteout is necessary!
