STYLE GURU STYLE: White Winter, Fur-real

In my previous article, I mentioned that I attend school in Alabama. Therefore, you may be wondering why I am sporting a fur vest inspired by Altuzarra in the snow. Well the answer is quite simple: I am in Denver, Colorado on vacation.

As a southern beach Fashionista, the snow and mountain views are unreal, and certainly hard to prepare for. To stand the bitter cold weather, I drew inspiration from Joseph Altuzarra’s pre-fall 2015 collection, which showed many similarities to traditional English dress.

The designer’s pre-fall collection was expressed primarily through neutral colors, thick sheep-skin coats and fur vests for days. The specific look that inspired my style used a more modern take by accessorizing with a large black belt. However, with a petite frame like mine, adding more layers can look unflattering and overwhelm a small body frame.

Instead, I layered the white, faux fur vest over a chunky burgundy sweater with gold accessories, dark-wash jeans and brown riding boots. Incorporating the sweater into the look kept me extra warm and comfortable throughout the day in the bitter cold. Depending on your style, you can leave the vest open or button it up. The luxurious look that fur adds to an outfit helps any Fashionista transition from day to night.

Altuzarra’s collection also mimicked a French-like theme that attracted my eye immediately because not only do I love everything French, but France also houses one of the fashion capitals, Paris.

Get My Look: 1. A faux fur vest. 2. A chunky sweater. 3. A shiny gold watch.
