STYLE GURU STYLE: White Out

If you’ve been keeping up with trends you know white on white is all the rage right now. I’m equally obsessed with this trend as everyone else. Last spring, duster coats came onto the scene; this year they are back and more chic than ever. This light, hoodless alternative to a trench coat has been seen on the runway, celebrities and bloggers. Combining these two trends is a win all around.

I took inspiration for this look from the Josie Natori collection. I love the structured basics and black and white color scheme this collection flaunts. My own duster coat was much more drapey, as I wanted to give a more casual and youthful vibe to my outfit. However, I did stick to the white on white, experimenting with what whites work best together. The key to wearing all white is to not be afraid to mix different shades of it. Cream and white, much like black and navy or brown and black are sometimes questionable together. The key to this look is confidence! Don’t try to disguise cream and white as one, different shades of white are modern.

To avoid looking too dressy, I kept my jeans distressed. I didn’t want to look super polished so the rips in the knees were the perfect thing. Ripped jeans can give a worn in, chill look to any outfit. Recently, I’ve been obsessed with masculine, “borrowed from your boyfriend” pieces. I added my square black glasses and leather bag from Beara Beara to give this outfit a masculine edge. I kept my makeup modern and neutral, adding a grey toned lip color, which I have been loving recently.
