STYLE GURU STYLE: White & Denim

Nothing screams warm weather like a white sundress and a denim jacket. It’s finally time to put away our puffy coats and bean boots and take out our lighter jackets and sandals. The jacket-dress combo is a classic spring look that is not only stylish but also practical. It’s perfect for those days when it’s chilly in the morning but by midday, it feels like a sauna. This type of outfit is also super easy to put together as it is basically only two pieces.

When I look through runway shows on Vogue.com, I tend to relate to the more realistic, everyday looks. Madewell’s spring 2016 ready-to-wear collection was all about denim, classic and neutral pieces. I was especially inspired by the monochromatic looks that had a pop of color. For example, one of the models wore a white shirt, white pants and a pastel pink and white scarf. However, as it usually does for Madewell, denim stole the show.

There is nothing more versatile than a denim jacket. You can basically wear it with anything in your closet. Personally, I love to wear one over an otherwise monochromatic outfit. Whether it’s white jeans and a white shirt or black jeans and a black shirt, a denim jacket will add the perfect amount of color to any outfit.

While I opted for a denim jacket, it is certainly not the only way you can wear this trend. The models from the show sported denim in a variety of ways: vests, jeans, skirts and even a dress! The possibilities are endless when you combine these two compatible and refreshing hues.

Get My Look: 1. Denim jacket. 2. White dress. 3. Sunglasses.
