STYLE GURU STYLE: White And Gold

There has been a great controversy about #thedress—is it white and gold, or blue and black? While most people think that the dress looks better in blue and black, those four colors can actually go well together. After all, gold goes with everything, according to Paule Ka’s fall 2015 ready-to-wear show. In this collection, we could see how the studio played with fabrics, silhouettes and colors.

Although its founder and artistic director Serge Cajfinger left the brand last year, the studio continued to produce exciting pieces. The black and white boxy coat was chic, while the pale blue satin dress looked absolutely gorgeous. However, the gold and pink midi skirt was my favorite. It looked like an abstract painting with gold paint splashing on a shimmery baby pink canvas. Another look that captivated me was the white and gold poncho on a black maxi dress. The three colors contrast each other, as the drapes of the satin poncho juxtapose the geometry formed by the dress.

So here’s my outfit inspired by the show. I’m wearing my sweatpants with gold sequined “Love Pink” on black velvet. I love the texture because it looks classier than your usual sweatpants, but it’s still very comfy. I put on a pair of copper gold suede ankle boots to echo the gold sequins on my pants, and I have a white T-shirt on to tone the look down a little. As I said, white, gold, blue and black can look great together. Simply look at the harmony created by my blue hair, black pants, gold sequins and white T-shirt. Sometimes, you can have it all.

Get My Look: 1. Sequined sweatpants. 2. A white top. 3. Gold ankle boots.
