STYLE GURU STYLE: When Feminine Meets Edgy

If you’re looking for a collection that will take your breath away, then look no further than the Zuhair Murad fall 2016 couture show. Zuhair Murad’s gorgeous gowns remind me of the kinds of dresses women wore in the medieval era—feminine in shape, but they also give off a gothic tone that exudes mystery.

I decided to take a more modern spin on his designs with the crop top/high-waisted skirt combination. The bralette’s lace adds a certain daintiness to the look, while it’s black color still gives it an edgy vibe. As for the skirt, I love the dimension it adds with its feminine shape and the subtle showing of skin. Zuhair Murad also plays with this effect, as his line features deep necklines, lots of peek-a-boo cutouts and see through mesh fabric that make for a mysterious look.

For jewelry, I decided to add some fun arm candy; my everyday Celtic ring, black and silver bracelets and a beaded turquoise bracelet for a pop of color (I also painted my nails a robin’s egg blue for the same effect!) When it came to my neck, I took cues from Zuhair Murad, whose models can be seen sporting choker necklaces in some of his looks. The bolo tie has been one of my favorite trends lately, so I wore it by looping it around my neck once and tying the ends near the top. It’s a great way to amp up the drama in your look!

Finally, I finished the outfit off with my favorite open toed fringe booties, which I thought was a great way to add some definition to an otherwise all-black ensemble.

Zuhair Murad’s show proved to me that bold looks will never go out of style. His collection shows you can rock pieces that have all different vibes, yet they can still come together to create one killer outfit!

So get out there, all you Fashionistas/os! Let’s find out what happens when feminine meets edgy.
