STYLE GURU STYLE: West Coast Fall

Having lived in the Midwest for my entire life, the start of fall brings a multitude of changes. The leaves start to change their color, there’s a brisk chill in the air and everyone begins to layer their clothing while drinking a Pumpkin Spice Latte. It seems to be the exact opposite in Southern California, the place where summer is all year round. The colder months are quickly approaching and yet I am still sweating from the hot sun while I am walking from class to class. Don’t get me wrong, being able to go to the beach in October is a nice added bonus, but I do miss my sweaters.

This outfit that I am showcasing is something that you can typically find me wearing to class, the mall or my sorority meetings. I would like to say that my style is casual chic because I still want to look put together and fashionable, but I also want to be comfortable at the same time. This past week, the temperatures have ranged through the high 80’s and 90’s. This look is perfect for the California weather because it exposes just the right amount of skin and you will not get too hot wearing this outfit.

For this look, I started it off with an olive green off-the-shoulder body suit from Qrew. I have noticed that off-the-shoulder tops are very in this season and I see multiple girls every single day wearing similar items. I bought this bodysuit for only $7.99. I paired it with denim high-waisted shorts from H&M. For my shoes, I decided to wear black gladiator sandals from DSW. I love these sandals because they can go with a lot of different outfits, and they really tie the entire outfit together. Lastly for my accessories, I wore a black choker from Charlotte Russe and a white pearl bracelet. Chokers are truly making their comeback and I feel like everyone should own at least one.

If you live in a place that is still too hot for jeans, this outfit is awesome for everyday wear. Try to beat that heat and stay cool my fellow West Coasters!
