Hey, Macklemore! Can we go thrift shopping? Yes. Yes we can. If you read my Style Guru Bio, it was clear I was on the hunt for the perfect short vintage fur coat. Behind all your grandparent’s clothes from the ’70s, I found it. Now that winter has finally begun, fur is an essential to anyone and everyone’s wardrobe. Just because it is finally getting frigid out, that doesn’t mean you have to slide into your favorite pair of sweatpants to be comfortable. The beauty of winter is simple: coats. My favorite thing about winter is finally getting to snuggle into my fuzzy fur.
Fendi’s fall 2015 collection featured a variety of furs. From basic darks to patterns and long to short coats, this collection has it all. I love how it combined patterned and detailed fur with leather pants, creating a wearable yet edgy look. Typically, I wear dark furs, however this collection inspired me to buy my first white fur coat. The white fur gives a gray, cold day a lighter and brighter feel. In the look above, I paired the fur with a vintage jumpsuit and black booties. This could be worn for a nice dinner or going out at night with friends. Fur makes the look fancier and more elegant than a typical puffy down jacket. However, fur jackets can also be worn with a pair of boyfriend jeans and sneakers. It can make any outfit look chic while being comfy, cozy and, most importantly, warm.
However, fur comes in all shapes and sizes as seen with my red faux fur key chain. It’s a cute and colorful accessory that dresses up at bag and gives it a bit more flair. The fur key chains claim to fame began with none other than Fendi. What is better than a classic Sac De Jour bag from Yves Saint Laurent? Well, honestly, nothing. But the fur key chain gives the classic look a bit of an edge and adds character.
In my look I am wearing real vintage fur. I am a fan of vintage fur for two reasons: it is way cheaper than new real fur and it does not harm new animals. If real fur is not your thing, have no fear there are some amazingly warm faux furs you can find. I recommend Topshop for reasonably priced, well made and a large variety of faux fur.
