STYLE GURU STYLE: Velvet Night

As the weather warms up, we can only look forward to longer days, and the opportunity to wear outfits that we can fully show off without the pain of heavy jackets or boots. I personally cannot wait to have more of an opportunity to dress up and show off my own personal style whether it be to a party or nice restaurant.

Keeping an eye on runway trends, I looked back to Topshop Unique’s fall 2016 ready-to-wear collection. Specifically the section known as “A Winter’s Tale” drew me in greatly due to the classy pieces that seemed to make you think back to the beauty of winter holiday elegance. Noting the use of velvet and blue lace in this collection, I could only think of the pieces I had in my closet.

My outfit includes a dark gray/black skater skirt that I picked up; it offers ultimate comfort, and the perks of a skater skirt usually is that they work on almost anyone! I tucked in a fitted blue lace top; my favorite part about this is that the piece has detail all over. Since the weather is still a bit chilly, I decided to put on a regular pair of black tights underneath. Now usually, a outfit as fancy as this one would be paired with a cute pair of heels, but being a college girl, we all know the struggle of having to walk far distances from your campus to town. To make sure my feet aren’t killing me by the end of the night, I wore black lace-up shoes that are very similar to sneakers. They keep the outfit comfortable and a little more casual.

Are you excited to dress up some more this spring? So many new trends are coming out, and the warmer weather just calls for showing off newer outfits!
