STYLE GURU STYLE: Us Versus Everyone

I don’t know if it is just me but I am still loving the sporty-chic menswear look. I’ve always been into feminizing menswear but recently, I’ve seen this trend all over the Mercedes-Benz New York Fashion Week runway.

This week I took inspiration from look one of the 6397 fall 2015 ready-to-wear collection.

I almost recreated this look exactly but had to add my own touch to it, of course. 6397 is this brand I’ve never seen before but have fallen in love with. It use to be a denim label but has recently expanded into a full ready to wear range. In this range there is a generous dose of a downtown tomboy feel and the design team likes to do its own take on classic, under-sung pieces.

Wearing ripped jeans is pretty risky for this time of year however, beauty is pain, am I right!? I paired these super old and extremely (accidentally) ripped jeans with my all time favorite black suede booties.

Moving upwards, I tried to match 6397’s olive green bomber jacket with this chic men’s one I recently purchased and I have to say, they are pretty similar. Olive green is a nice accent color for the winter, especially for the outfits I like to wear, that are mainly black, white and gray, because it adds color and warmth to your outfit but it isn’t obnoxious or too bright–its a color that stands out without trying.

Underneath this fabulous jacket, I frayed away from the 6397 inspiration for a quick second and rocked one of my new favorite T-shirts that reads: Africa-vs-Everyone. I am half Cameroonian and half Nigerian so I found it only fitting to rock the continent and thought by wearing a T-shirt with “Africa” on it, I would be able to exsute warm vibes on this freezing day. This T-shirt is also super important because it was a charity T-shirt for MSF’s aid, assisting the survivors of the Boko Haram attacks in Nigeria and UNICEF’s #StopEbola Campaign which is near and dear to my heart.

I accessorized with the Casio watch I wear everyday, my daily dosage of classic rings, some shades (of course) and this dope “I” hat. Like I said earlier, I wanted to add my personal touch to the 6397 inspiration–my last name is Imasogie and was does one ever find apparel with the letter “I” on it? Not only did it have my initial on it but it is flannel and grey and cream, so I took that as a calling from the fashion Gods and bought it immediately.

Get My Look: 1. Men’s olive green bomber jacket. 2. Afritribe’s Africa-vs-Everyone T-shirt. 2. Flannel initial baseball cap.
