STYLE GURU STYLE: Urban Cowgirl

I’ve always been a sucker for all french fashion, but I have an extra special place in my heart for Zadig & Voltaire. Every season screams “I look amazing on accident” in that cool french girl way that every Fashionista envies. The Paris based brand’s spring/summer 2016 ready to wear line presented an undeniable western inspiration. Lace, leather and suede, oh my! The perfect mix of masculinity and femininity is irresistible and so easy to mimic.

This lace duster cardigan is a definite go-to piece in wardrobe. Although, I usually style it in more of a Stevie Nicks way rather than Steve McQueen, so this is a fun new way to stretch a great piece. Pairing a romantic piece like this with two daring pieces like my crop top and leather mini skirt helps round out my outfit in an unexpected way. I really love the way the juxtaposition of lengths and fabrics as well as that of styles and fits make this outfit visually interesting and unique.

The real key to achieving the western feel presented by so many designers right now is accessorizing appropriately. My ankle booties with a pointed toe are perfect for this outfit and did a lot of the work for me when creating this look. These booties are another staple in my wardrobe because it’s far from boot season in Florida yet but I’m itching for fall fashion. My favorite piece in my outfit is easily my Brighton belt which is definitely my best Goodwill find to date. This belt really amps up any outfit and usually eliminates the need for jewelry because it’s a huge focal piece. A red lip and otherwise minimal makeup top off this look in the perfect way because it is balanced in the same way the rest of my outfit is.

Get my look: 1. Western style belt 2. Trying this look with a suede skirt rather than leather could be even cooler 3. Lace cardigan
