STYLE GURU STYLE: Unique Vintage

Happy 2016, lovely people! You know what that means? A new year with even more runway shows than the last.

To start it off, pre-fall 2016 collections have been in full swing and look no further than Topshop Unique to steal the show. From fur jackets to pastel animal patterned dresses, this collection is nothing less than its name “unique.” Its funky mix of patterns, fabrics and textures will give anyone the hope that its possible to try and match assorted items in their closet. Not to mention, scrolling through the collection will make you reminiscent of the ‘60s and ‘70s and who doesn’t want to relive that effortlessly cool era.

With this being said, I wanted to take the unique and vintage ways of Topshops collection and try to correlate them into my own look. First, I wanted to mix in a pattern and what better way to do this than with a skirt covered in cats. I mean who doesn’t love a classic pleated skirt with a bunch of cute little cats on it!

Next, I was inspired by the high neck lines in the collection so I tried replicating them with a classic cream collared shirt buttoned up to the top. Classic pieces like this can always be reinvented to look both modern and unique.

Lastly to top it off I tried incorporating something new to the vintage theme by adding a structured black leather jacket and a gold statement necklace to spice things up.

Get My Look: 1. Any patterned skirt or shirt. 2. A classic white button-down. 3. Structured black leather jacket. 4. Dr. Martens black boots.
