STYLE GURU STYLE: Transitions

Fall is all about transitions, moving from the heat of the summer and into the cold of the winter. It is the best time to experiment with trends since fall weather is neither too hot, nor too cold, it’s just right! I love how you can mix and match between articles of clothing that are traditionally worn during the summer with articles of clothing that are usually worn during the winter. For example, you can get away with wearing a pair of shorts and a thin sweater, and it would work great for the fall weather! You can also play around by mixing bold colors and patterns with more subtle autumnal colors such as maroon, gray, black, white, dull orange and teal. You basically have an unlimited amount of options!

Many designers have adopted this transition look into their fall 2015 ready-to-wear lines, especially Juicy Couture. Juicy Couture’s line contains an array of tight mini skirts, paired with a sweater or a top with an assortment of jackets. The line also contains jogger style pants, denim and jumpsuits. However, what I though was key to the line was how they incorporated a pair of black thigh-high socks to each outfit. I felt that the thigh-high socks gave all of the outfits more of a fall look and helped show how to transition between seasons. Juicy Couture also featured bold patterns in bright colors paired with a navy or black jacket. As well as, black and white outfits with an added pop of red coming from a mini side satchel or incorporating it into the outfit subtly. Overall, I think that this line is incredible and has many different elements going on, however, they all mesh very well together to bring us the perfect look for the fall.

I personally, am wearing a black and gold statement necklace, black and gray speckled skater skirt with a black crop top along with beige knit knee-high socks and black boots. I think look translates very well with fall, and you could even pair it with a statement cross body to give it a pop. I choose to wear black, gray and beige because I thought it fit in well with the season and gave my outfit more of a subtle look. I also choose to wear flat black boots instead of heels with my outfit for added comfort, because it would be very difficult getting around campus wearing a pair of heels the entire day!

Get My Look: 1. Skater skirt. 2. Boots. 3. Crop top. 4. Knee-high socks.
