STYLE GURU STYLE: The Vintage Touch

Spring is here on the Jersey shore, but it’s still kind of chilly. I am holding onto the cold weather tightly because of my love for sweaters, and winter outerwear. This season I am finding that I might be able to tolerate basic T-shirts with flat style sneakers with just the right touches. I’ve been heavily thrifting unique coats and jackets all winter and was finally able to wear one of my favorite leather finds.

My usual look consists of an all-black ensemble. I like to mix eras by choosing more modern and or trendy pieces with vintage. It is very easy to incorporate vintage pieces into any outfit. For smaller subtle touches accessories like jewelry, belts and  sunglasses are quick ways to turn back time with your style. I have recently found a few eighties braided skinny belts that look great with high-waist jeans. For a bolder choice, retro shirts, and “mom jeans” will definitely backdate your look.Vintage windbreakers and snap coach jackets are currently making a big comeback this spring. I wanted to try something different so I went for a lighter colored  lace-up band T-shirt (solely because it is a Jimi Hendrix T-shirt). I just happened to have two Jimi Hendrix vintage pins that I purchased from a punk rock flea market. I added a basic pair of black high waist leggings from American Eagle Outfitters with low cut sneakers by Adidas. For my outerwear, I chose my vintage leather bomber style men’s jacket. The jacket’s cut and stitching is unique, giving the look a bit of classic edge. This type of outfit is comfortable and perfect for the transitioning weather during spring.
