STYLE GURU STYLE: The Stylist and the Guru

Studying fashion not only opened my eyes to the fashion world itself, but to different styles and ways of pairing garments. I have never coined a style as my own personal style; rather, I am just a chameleon changing and adapting. I try not to limit myself to one specific style, and keep in mind that anything can be an inspiration to the way I dress myself.

With every outfit, I try to pair something more relaxed or loose fitted with something tighter or more feminine. Hats are a staple in my style because they can cover up a bad hair day and add an extra detail to an outfit. Highlighting with MAC’s Gold Deposit is always the key to making my face pop even on a simple makeup day. I am more into clothing than makeup, so that is usually where I make my statements.

Though I do not have a style icon, there are a few people I look to when I am feeling uninspired. Rihanna is probably everyone’s go-to girl. She mixes different pieces stylistically, which always makes me want to switch it up. Solange is on the list as well because her style is very New Orleans and artistic, which influences the way I dress myself. Karrueche Tran’s style also is one of my go-to girls because her style is unique, but realistic.

Needless to say I love a simple look that is sure to stand out. I create that look by pairing pieces that are a little more daring with things that are more relaxed. I gain inspiration from people, pictures, art and much more. The way you dress yourself can be simple, but it will always speak volumes before you ever say a word!
