STYLE GURU STYLE: The Perfect Boyfriend

Denim is the one item of clothing that never goes out of style. It’s versatile, trendy, classic and definitely cool. You can dress up a pair of skinny jeans with heels or you can go casual with a denim jacket and a pair of Converse sneakers. Denim jeans come in all shapes and styles. You can rock the popular skinny jeans or you can go bold in a pair of high-waisted bell bottoms. One of the hottest trends right now is distressed boyfriend jeans, which means the boyfriend jeans are taking over the runway!

VFiles spring 2016 ready-to-wear collection featured looks with different denim textures. There were clean cut, indigo dyed denim jackets, but the one look that caught my eye were the distressed, patchwork denim jeans. The distressed denim look created a effortless look without looking too effortless. Taking inspiration from these looks, I decided to incorporate the distressed denim element into my outfit. The ripped and frayed edges created a laid back look. I chose to go with a casual west coast vibe and since the distressed boyfriend jeans captured a lot of attention, I chose to pair it with a simple gray T-shirt. I finished the look with a pair of leather espadrilles, and while the T-shirt and jeans convey a more casual vibe, the leather espadrilles clean up the look and make it look more polished. If you want a casual look, you can pair this outfit with slip-on sneakers, but if you’re going for a chic vibe, you should throw on a pair of pointed toe heels
