STYLE GURU STYLE: The Jungle Look

After years of florals dominating spring fashion, a new plant took over our go-to print this spring: the palm leaf. The simple contrast of the palm frond against a plain background popped and simultaneously added graphic and floral appeal without clashing. Now that spring has passed and summer is officially upon us, meet the print that brings palm leaves into the new season: jungle print.

Jungle print is essentially just layers of palm leaves in rich shades of green. Summer style is all about color, and the colors of jungle foliage are just deep enough without sinking into the jewel tones that dominate fall. The perfect jungle print piece combines these shades of green without highlighting one color in particular or muting any of the colors. That way, the print looks cohesive, and doesn’t overwhelm the rest of your outfit.

Another great thing about jungle print is that it’s easy to wear in many different ways. If you’re like me and are afraid to wear color, just a little of the print goes a long way, as you can see in this outfit. Green goes especially well with neutrals. Look for black, white or tan when planning an outfit accented by jungle print. If you’re looking for something bolder, go all out with a dress or a jumpsuit in the print. Jungle print is so on-trend right now, it’s hard to go wrong!
