STYLE GURU STYLE: The Darker Side of Spring

In the fall 2015 trend report on Style.com, one of the trends they highlight that pops up throughout the shows is this “goth girl” look. I think my favorite appearance of this trend was in the Tom Ford fall 2015 ready-to-wear show. There was something so dream-like about this entire collection right down to the white rose petals covering the runway. Ford’s was more of a bohemian goth girl I guess you could call it. The whole thing was very theatrical. After seeing this collection, I wanted to enter this world and never ever have to leave it.

Here is my take on the “goth girl” trend with a Tom Ford twist. I wore this white and black dress that looks inspired by a brocade fabric. I paired some black tights with it because it has still been chilly here in Rhode Island most days. Over the dress, to continue with the black theme, I threw on my black leather jacket. On my feet, I wore my black Vince Camuto ankle booties. I kept it pretty simple with accessories. I paired these Kendra Scott drop earrings with the outfit. Then to complete the look, I put my hair up in braids similar to those on the models in the show.

This “goth girl” trend was all over the runways for fall 2015, not just in Tom Ford’s show. We all know the all black attire is a staple in any Fashionista’s closet, but this look is a little different than the chic all black that we know. As you can see, it is more carefree with a dreamy vibe. So don’t wait for the fall to try out this trend, take a darker approach to the springtime!

Get My Look: 1. A free-spirit’s take on the little black dress. 2. One black leather jacket. 3. Some Kendra Scott earrings to finish it off.
