As the winter season has finally begun, so has the dreaded task of changing our wardrobes from shorts and tanks to over-sized sweaters and heavy jackets. One item I have noticed that hasn’t been removed from the shelves of our favorite stores is the button-up high-waisted skirt! Alber Elbaz, a famous fashion designer, has made a statement about this trend that isn’t going anywhere by incorporating it into his Lanvin resort 2016 runway collection. This collection includes a lot of bold pieces and statement necklaces, as well as a clutch or purse for every look.
I chose to base my look off the button-up high-waisted skirt, not only because it’s an easy find but also because it goes great with everything! I eliminated the bold colors and instead added black, white and gray to the color scheme. I used the skirt, statement necklace and cross-body bag and made the look my own.
My inspired outfit consists of booties paired with knee-high black socks, A TOBI white long sleeve top that tucks into the flattering button-up high-waisted skirt. Since I am all about layering, I added my favorite Kmart find, which is a grey knitted cardigan. To fit the color scheme, I decided to add a nice silver and black Faux Stone Cord statement necklace from Forever 21, along with a brown Giani Bernini cross-body leather bag. This outfit is perfect for a casual day in town turned into a night out with the girls.
