For alice + olivia‘s pre-fall 2015 fashion line, the ’70s are making a huge comeback in a brilliant way. Bold patterns like paisley, wide-legged pants and flowy tops and dresses are seen throughout the entire collection. The long dresses and blouses were made of a light material that is easy to move in and flow beautifully. The bold patterns on the dresses represents the fashionable decade with a modern twist and more bold colors. Wide-legged pants are back in clean colors and cut to perfection. What I loved most about this line was that every piece looked so effortlessly chic and professional.
I went out of my style comfort zone and decided to try this look. I decided to pick one strong piece to wear and contrast it with a simple piece. My wide-legged pants have a bold paisley print, and they’re also light and flowy. The colors in the pants were more neutral than alice + olivia’s collection since they were only black, brown and white. Since the pants were pretty bold, I chose a simple black V-neck sweater to tuck in. I chose one piece of jewelry, so I didn’t take away the spotlight from the pants. I also wore a gold cuff bracelet that looks like a bunch of gold bangles. It went well with the color scheme and the ’70s time period!
Since my style is more classic and reserved, I chose to balance loud pants with a solid sweater. A white or brown blouse would have paired great with the pants as well, if that is something you would want to do! Bold earrings like gold hoops or a long statement necklace could also brighten up the outfit.
This collection inspired me to try something new like a bold pattern on pants and go back in time to the ’70s. Many other designers are using this decade more and more as inspiration, so get a head start on this trend and get some groovy patterned pants!
