STYLE GURU STYLE: That’s So ’90s

I know that I have probably expressed this many times before, but I absolutely love fall. Can you tell that I’m obsessed? The leaves are starting to change, I can drink delicious coffee whenever I want and I get to dress like an Eskimo without being judged.

On another note, it’s a little funny to me how fashion comes full circle. I mean, it’s 2016 and bell sleeves are coming back into style, as well as loose fitting jeans and choker necklaces. There is inspiration coming from multiple decades with designers trying to put an innovative spin on already existing styles.

One of the most prominent decades being developed upon is the ’90s. Flannels are popping up everywhere, practically a staple in every Fashionista/os closet. Turtlenecks are becoming more commonplace. Chokers are making a vigorous comeback, as well as vintage T-shirts and ripped boyfriend jeans. I’m definitely not complaining!

In my ensemble, I paired a simple black tank top with an oversized flannel to minimize the femininity in my outfit. I combined those elements with loose-fitting ripped jeans and brown lace-up combat boots. For accessories, I wore simple pearl earrings and a brown choker necklace, not to mention super trendy space buns!

This is a very simple outfit that can definitely be played around with. You can switch out the tank top for a graphic T-shirt or even a simple sweater if the weather is a little chillier. If you want to edge up the outfit, maybe switch out the shorts for a plain skater skirt and some knee-high stockings. That’s what’s awesome about the ’90s-inspired clothing and accessories making a comeback: attire is a lot simpler and can be styled to fit your wants and needs!
