STYLE GURU STYLE: That '70s-Chic

Spring is almost here and there isn’t a better way to start it off with some fringe and lace. Ever since I was young, I have always admired ’70s fashion. With all the bold prints, lace, fringe and bright colors, how could you not? Looking at alice + olivia’s spring 2016 ready-to-wear collection, I was ecstatic to see the era trending on the runway.

The designer’s collection featured a mix of both bohemian and Spanish influences. It showed off feminine styles while highlighting the power of flared pants and the great silhouette they can create. Although designer, Stacey Bendet is famous for her classic black and white pieces, the color palette included ivory, shades of blue, bright reds and tan. The alice + olivia collection inspired me to bust out my own spring ‘70s look!

Similar to the collection, I chose to wear an ivory-laced dress that has flared sleeves with fringe. I paired the dress with a tan and ivory patterned wrap to give the outfit a bit of contrast with patterns and texture, which is shown throughout the collection as well. I loved that the poncho had fringe, because the more the merrier. To complete my look, I wore a pair of brown platform sandals. In order to give the look more of my personality, I coated myself with accessories. As a result of the color scheme, I wanted to make the outfit look more exciting and accessories never fail to do that. As DJ Khaled would say, accessories are the “key to success.”

Get My Look: 1. A white lace dress. 2. A pair of brown platform sandals. 3. A fringe wrap. 4. Some layered jewelry.
