STYLE GURU STYLE: Take A Walk On The Wild Side

My street style-inspired look is a look I wear regularly and was inspired by the Emporio Armani spring 2015 ready-to-wear show. This look consists of dark colors such as black, white and blue with an eccentric pop here and there.

Gianni Versace said: “Don’t be into trends. Don’t make fashion own you, but you decide what you are, what you want to express by the way you dress and the way you live.” This quote is one my biggest New Year’s resolutions and I intend to live by it as much as I can. One of the biggest things I have learned about myself is that I really have no set guide for what I like to wear or how I like to wear it. However, what I have found is this: I love black, a good graphic T-shirt, and a pop of color. What I have learned about fashion since starting college is that fashion is about a statement of who you are and not about what people think you are, or should be. Some great advice is that adding a touch of leopard print and a red lip can go a long way.

Leopard print has made a huge comeback, and it just so happens that the classic red lip look has, as well. What better way to create a diverse look than to merge the two movements together? There is no better way to beat the trends than by being ahead of them. I paired my black denim with cheetah slip-ons and a soft oversized graphic T-shirt. My favorite thing about graphic tops is that they let you give some personality to your outfit. This one just so happens to let me show my CollegeFashionista personality with its “RAD” saying. To give this black and white look a little more of a whimsical approach, I added a pop of color with my red lip and a chic pair of kate spade sunglasses. I truly believe that black is back, but why not mix up the trend with a bold twist.

Adding funky prints is completely underrated and is not a thing of the past just yet—so, be brave by trying it. This look is extremely simple, yet classic. With it being the start of the semester, it’s extremely appropriate. All you need are a few key pieces and you’re set. This look is made for the fiercest girls, so don’t be afraid to literally step out of your comfort zone with a trendy new shoe.
