STYLE GURU STYLE: Take a Load Off Your Shoulders

As the first day of summer is quickly approaching it’s time to sort through your wardrobe for some go-to pieces. My necessities this summer will probably include a favorite shirt that I can’t live without, or a pair of shoes that go with everything.  I’m constantly scrolling through my Instagram feed looking at my favorite blogger’s must-have items for this season. I’m able to find a lot of inspiration by looking at their styles and thinking of ways I can spin them off into my own.

One article of clothing everyone needs this summer is an off-the-shoulder top. These tops started making their way on the runway in 2015. I would say they went from being a new trend to a wardrobe staple in 2016.

My look is inspired by Chloé’s resort 2016 collection. This collection featured flowing and sheer fabrics, ruffles, lace and an off-the-shoulder top that caught my eye. The top wasn’t form fitting and had lace in the middle and on the loose sleeves. This inspired me to buy my shirt because of the lace detailing surrounding the top. Also the fabric is light, allowing it to breathe, even on a hot Carolina day.

These tops look great with a pair of distressed shorts or jeans.  They can be dressed up or down depending on the accessories you choose. This is one of my favorite shirts because of the color. I don’t think I can ever own too much pink. I found my top on Lulu’s. Sadly they no longer sell this specific shirt, but I linked below a similar option. I decided to pair this shirt with some white distressed shorts from American Eagle Outfitters for a bright casual look. This is the perfect outfit for a lunch or dinner date.

Don’t be afraid to try new trends! You can always find ways to personalize them to your own style. Off-the-shoulder tops come in all different colors, patterns and fabrics that may suit your fancy.
