STYLE GURU STYLE: Summer In Lilly

There’s something about Lilly Pulitzer that just screams happiness, femininity and most of all, summer. On June 21, 2015, girls from all over the country donned their preppiest apparel for National Wear Your Lilly Day. This holiday, which is endorsed by Lilly Pulitzer and falls on the first day of summer every year, calls all girls to spend the day showing off their favorite Lilly outfit. In previous years I had dreamed of one day being able to wear the coveted designer. However, this year I had a variety of Lilly outfits to choose from thanks to the Target and Lilly Pulitzer collaboration. When the news dropped that the famous Palm Beach designer would be a part of the next collaboration with Target, I couldn’t have been more excited. On the day it was released I woke up in the early hours of the morning and drove to Target with coffee and a game plan in hand. As the doors opened, I immediately ran to the clothing section where I, very luckily, got my hands on a variety of items. I was thrilled that I could finally add one of my favorite designers to my closet.

This pantsuit was one of my favorite finds because it reminded me of Christian Siriano’s resort collection. To create his collection, Siriano referenced the abstract pieces of artist Teil Duncan, who is known for her vivid hues, abstract beach scenes, and statement-making prints. Much like Lilly Pulitzer’s designs, Christian Siriano’s 2015 resort collection was filled with bright colors and fun patterns.

As I began getting ready for National Wear Your Lilly Day, I started with my Lilly Pulitzer for Target palm printed jumpsuit. I threw a basic jean jacket on top and added a pair of chestnut colored chunky heels. Lastly, I added some fun nautical themed bracelets. However, I also made sure to add a small pair of pearls for a hint of classic Lilly Pulitzer preppiness.
