STYLE GURU STYLE: Summer Flower Power

My outfit, which consists of a floral print jersey, long sleeve shirt, leggings and ankle boots, is all about radiating flower power. It alludes to the perfect summer day by referencing the floral trend I’ve seen and admired in Viktor & Rolf’s spring 2015 ready-to-wear collection. Similar to the Viktor & Rolf’s pieces, I’ve chosen to go for a more floral vibe. The collection’s combination of mesh floral shirts with athletic leggings and biker shorts directly influenced my outfit choice.

Even though I’ve taken a couple of notes from Viktor & Rolf, I’ve reimagined their floral looks to fit my own personal style. In order to compensate my more simplistic and edgy wardrobe, my outfit puts a heavy emphasize on rich colors, such as royal blue, gold, emerald and black. My look specifically includes a Stüssy floral print jersey, which I put on top of a black long sleeve shirt and leggings. I topped it off with black heeled ankle boots from Chinese Laundry. Lastly, for an added bit of fun, I used a pop of color on my eyes and nails. I used a rich purple eyeshadow from Sephora and lustrous blue nail color from essie.

I’m typically not one for floral prints, mostly because I find them way too expressive (in contrast to my more simplistic sense of style), but this season got me thinking about them differently. The array of looks that I’ve seen in Viktor & Rolf’s spring 2015 ready-to-wear collection inspired me to incorporate some flower power into my personal style. Yes, the floral trend happens to be a nod to the bright and colorful, but I’m glad to say that this trend had made its way into my minimalistic summer wardrobe.

Get My Look: 1. A sleeveless floral jersey. 2. Black leggings. 3. Heeled ankle boot.
