STYLE GURU STYLE: Summer Festival Patterns

While looking for inspiration to start shopping for my summer wardrobe, I came across the spring 2015 ready-to-wear by Valentino, specifically look 14. The model is wearing a bohemian style dress that inspired me to adapt this style into an everyday look by pairing a free-spirited pattern crop top that reminded me of the dress with vintage, distressed shorts. This outfit is perfect for college students and can be worn on a typical day or to a music festival.

With summer just around the corner, people all over the city are anxiously awaiting music festivals like Lollapoolza, Pitchfork, Spring Awakening and North Coast. Not only do music fanatics enjoy listening to their favorite artists in the summer sun but picking out the perfect outfit can be stressful. As a music fan myself and a frequent festival goer, this outfit reflects not only my personal style but an outfit I would wear to a summer festival.

The shorts I am wearing I made myself. First, I cut holes at the bottom and then I bleached them. I added gold studs on the upper right pocket for an edgier detail. Since I am wearing high-waisted shorts, I decided to pair it with a fun, crazy patterned crop top. Since it is a summer music festival, bright, patterned tops are a go-to. I wanted to draw more attention to my crafty shorts, so I paired them with black patterned tights. I choose black pointed flats to correlate with my black tights, cardigan and black in my top. I chose black and gold accessories to match the main colors in my outfit, which are black and gold. My gold statement necklace complements the gold studs in my shorts. My black and gold bangle bracelets match my black cardigan and gold statement necklace. I chose to wear a cardigan over this outfit in case it got chilly at night.
