STYLE GURU STYLE: Suede Season

The weather has officially hit freezing temperatures, but that does not stop me from wearing my favorite skirts! When I wake up and see snow, I feel tempted to roll out of bed and throw on sweats and Ugg boots. So, this skirt ensemble definitely helped motivate me to look forward to the warmer months. Wearing an outfit that you love definitely improves your mood and helps beat the winter blues.

This past year, button-down suede and denim skirts have become increasingly popular. I love how easily you can dress them up for a night out or down for class or a sorority event. Depending on your personal style, a skirt can be paired with low-cut sneakers for a sportier look or high boots for a girly style like mine. For this look, I paired my button-down, tan, suede skirt with a fuzzy cropped mock-neck sweater. I was never a fan of the classic turtleneck on myself, but mock-necks are a cuter way to get in on the trend. I decided to tie in the gold pieces by matching the hardware on the skirt with a few dainty, simple, gold necklaces. I purchased this necklace as a set from Forever 21. It was super affordable, but it is such a simple addition to every outfit. I would usually pair a skirt with chunky heels, but for class, over-the-knee boots are the way to go. They cover just the right amount of skin so that I’m not freezing!

I hope this outfit inspired you to wear your favorite skirts even in the winter season! It is always a good idea to layer tanks, cardigans, and sweaters with your skirt to keep you cozy but still cute.
