STYLE GURU STYLE: Subtle Statements

Happy fall, y’all! It’s still warm and sunny here in New Orleans, so I am taking advantage of the weather in every way possible. I like to start my days with a walk in Audubon Park, end with a relaxing evening on the balcony and include the perfect outfit in-between.

Choosing a solid base is crucial when putting together the perfect outfit. Here you can see the Allant Pant from Aritzia which comes in a variety of colors, all suitable for mixing and matching. The olive color I am wearing is a big trend this fall. Additionally, the adjustable waist tie makes these the ideal pants for your upcoming Thanksgiving dinner. Paired with the pants is a turtleneck crop top from Brandy Melville (my go to store for everyday basics).

Styling becomes really fun once you begin choosing statement pieces. First I went for a pair of contrasting shoes that give a much needed pop to my otherwise plain look. The rusty red of these lace-ups is one of my new favorite colors for the season. Next I added a bright vintage necklace from a hidden gem of a store in Budapest. Shopping in thrift stores can be exhausting but if you look hard enough you can find some truly incredible accessories. A statement piece doesn’t have to be glamour and glitz all the time; a little color can go a long way.

Next time you’re getting ready to hit the town, don’t be afraid to throw on some statement pieces that make your outfit stand out!
