Stripes have always been a popular trend throughout the years. Especially in the summer, stripes are a go-to staple in anyone’s wardrobe. Even in high fashion, stripes have been appearing more often. When it comes to patterns, designers are taking a linear approach this season. From Balmain’s fall 2015 ready-to-wear collection to Fendi’s pre-fall 2015 collection, stripes have been making a comeback on the runways. Being a lover of stripes myself, I just had to create an outfit that expressed the bold pattern we all know and love.
For my look today, I was inspired by Valentino’s fall 2015 ready-to-wear collection. Filled with stripes, black skirts and embellished dresses, Valentino’s collection is a perfect mix of luxury and grunge. Valentino’s collection has a more casual vibe than some of the other collections this season and I just had to pull some of my own items to replicate my favorite runway looks.
Being inspired by Valentino’s A-line dresses and geometric silhouettes, I wore a black and white striped trapeze tunic and black zip ankle booties. The sleeveless part of the tunic makes it a perfect piece for summer weather and the zippered ankle booties adds an edge to my outfit. Stripes are very popular this season and Valentino highlights this trend numerous times throughout his collection. I finished my outfit with minimal accessories, wearing simple stud earrings.
Valentino’s collection really focused on highlighting geometric shapes and silhouettes. It also included different patterns and textures. The collection featured stripes, lace, feather, embellishments and multicolored faux fur. I especially love this collection because it offers real life wardrobe pieces for the everyday Fashionista, while also offering very glamorous pieces for whenever you need something for a formal event.
