STYLE GURU STYLE: Striped Takeover

Summer is finally here and in full force! In honor of my favorite season, I have been building up a summer wardrobe that will give me a little more edge. While searching for inspiration, I decided to drift away from the normal bright and bold colors. I began looking through Style.com to find inspiration and that’s when I stumbled across the Preen by Thornton Bregazzi resort 2016 collection. I love how the line is predominantly black and white with a few pops of color. I especially fell in love with the mix of stripes and floral print. I found the lace sleeves, print mash up and different length skirts and dresses very alluring.

I drew inspiration from the main use of stripes in nearly every Bregazzi look. Although they were described as nautical, stripes can take on any form. I decided to go for a more preppy take on stripes with my look. I decide to stick with just black and white and incorporate color with my added touch of floral print. I used a black dress with white stripes as the base for my outfit, then I added in floral with a kimono from Forever21 which I tied around my waist. To finish off my look, I accessorized a little with pink sunglasses from Target and a black fringe clutch (and just in case you were wondering—yes fringe is prefect for all seasons!). My favorite part of my outfit would be my white platform sandals. This has been my recent obsession this season because by adding a platform, any look can go from casual to edgy in the blink of an eye.

Edgy outfits can be hard sometimes but by combining staple items just like Bregazzi did in his Resort line, it becomes easy to create a chic outfit that is perfect for a day party or evening out around the town.
