STYLE GURU STYLE: Stop And Smell The Roses

Dolce&Gabbana wowed with bold rose designs in their fall/winter 2015 collection. With rich fabrics, deep red flowers and feminine silhouettes, the collection felt reminiscent of both the style of the ’40s and the passion of Spain. I have always been a huge fan of Dolce&Gabbana and dream of one day wearing a dress not dissimilar from the fall 2015 collection.

As an ode to this romantic new line, I pieced together a more comfortable (and affordable) every day outfit. I replaced the intricate roses and expensive fabrics with a bold patterned romper and a black tulle skirt, adding my favorite leather ankle boots for a personal touch. Using the skirt to cinch my waist, I was also able to incorporate the classic ’40s silhouette. Since I wore this outfit to class, I added an olive green cardigan to bring out the green in the leaves and keep me warm in the lecture hall.

My style is all about adding personal, interesting pieces to an outfit for maximum self-expression. To do this, I added some manatee earrings and a pair of sparkly white socks. Quirky jewelry and socks are my go-to for injecting some personality in an outfit; they also turn out to be really great conversation pieces.

It’s not spring yet, so take advantage of winter fashion while you can! Dark colors and longer hems are still here for a few more weeks, and the romance from Valentine’s Day is already fading. Now is the perfect time to bring out those bold florals and midi skirts for effortless, impactful outfits.

Get My Look: 1. Floral romper. 2. Tulle skirt. 3. Leather boots.
