STYLE GURU STYLE: Stomping Around

The fictitious character Jackie Burkhart  (played by Mila Kunis) in That ‘70s Show once said that she likes fall because of the “slimming lines and dark colors.” Well, it may not be fall, but winter shortly follows, and the wardrobe stays the same. However, a vital key to that dark-toned fall, winter clothing lies in the details. Ankle boots are my go-to for this chilly season.

Looking at Clare Waight Keller’s Chloé fall 2015 ready-to-wear collection, I had this feeling that I was watching a collection designed for a strong yet feminine woman. What caught my attention were the details, especially on the feet.

The boots complemented the military-style coats and lingerie-like sheer dresses and give the collection the look of a pretty and fearless woman. It also made me picture stylish women taking a drive down to explore the French countryside. The contrasting colors in my outfit match Keller’s collection, as she fused dark and light colors.

I added the footwear to my wardrobe by pairing it with a simple blue denim jacket. The rest of my wardrobe is black. My outfit includes a Zara tie blouse, black low-cut skinny jeans and ankle boots. I let my natural hair down, parted down the middle and opted for no makeup—very Man Repeller-esque.

Whether one dons a slip dress with a double-breasted coat or high-waisted jeans with a tucked in button-up shirt, the ankle boot can make any outfit that much better.

Get My Look: 1. Skinny scarf. 2. Denim jacket. 3. Low-cut black skinny jeans. 4. Ankle boots.
