STYLE GURU STYLE: Steve Jobs Pulled it Off, So Can You

When I was little, turtlenecks were not the most fashionable things to wear. They were sweaters that your grandma got you for your birthday that then your mom forced you to wear. Whenever I was forced to wear one I would find myself constantly pulling at my collar, counting down the minutes until I could take it off. Who would have thought that something that I dreaded when I was young would now be one of the most coveted trends of the winter season?

Victoria Beckham’s fall 2015 ready-to-wear collection shows off the different ways that turtlenecks can be incorporated into everyday outfits. She sticks to mostly neutral colors, with a few of her pieces featuring bright oranges and mustard yellows. Beckham also makes good use of plain black turtlenecks. I drew my inspiration from these amazing looks.

In order to translate these looks into outfits that I can wear everyday on campus, I decided to wear my black turtleneck with a pair of distressed jeans. I think that the jeans gave the outfit a more relaxed vibe. When thinking about drudging through campus in such cold weather, I knew a jacket was a must. I love the way my turtleneck looked with this cinched black coat. Wearing a plain black turtleneck meant that I just had to accessorize! I wore a rose gold-toned boyfriend watch and a bib necklace from Forever 21. I love how a trend that I loathed when I was younger is now a trend I covet now that I’m older! Turtlenecks are a definite must in any Fashionista’s closet this season.
