STYLE GURU STYLE: Springtime Reverie

I’ve said it time and time again: Colorado’s weather is absolutely insane. It is always beautiful, but experiencing spring, summer and winter all in one week can be a little mind boggling. This recent sunshine and warmth has allowed the idea of springtime to grow roots. I want nothing more than to pack away my sweaters and move on to brighter and bolder fashion avenues.

For a girl in my frame of mind, the bold colors and bright spring whites in the Chloe spring 2015 ready-to-wear collection were an absolute dream. I am particularly in love with the movement of this yellow dress. The light pleating and saturated color embody the effortless spring style I am looking forward to. I chose to incorporate those two elements in this look.

The base of this ensemble is the cobalt blue linen dress. Linen is breathable enough for a warm day but is also suitable for transitional weather when layered. The key to achieving the effortless style seen in the Chloe show is to find pieces that have a lot of movement. The loose skirt and longer midi length achieve a sort of laid back elegance. I kept the rest of the ensemble fairly neutral with a khaki jacket and tan booties. The gold hardware on the jacket ties in perfectly with my new favorite pair of tortoise shell sunnies.

If you are feeling a little dreary, pull yourself out of the winter fashion rut with a bold new look. You can achieve that je ne sais quoi quality and effortless style with a few strong pieces.

Get My Look: 1. A bold flowing dress. 2. Suede booties. 3. Tortoise shell sunglasses. 4. A tan jacket.
