STYLE GURU STYLE: Spring Staples

As the semester comes to an end, I cannot help but treat myself to new spring clothes. This year was no exception! My closet could definitely use a pick-me-up after spring cleaning, and I was able to find the perfect summer staples. Each of these items of clothing can be worn with multiple things which is always something I look for. Knowing that there’s a chilly morning and warm afternoon ahead always makes it difficult when deciding on an outfit. My style through spring and summer is very casual and involves styling multiple neutral items in multiple different

To start the look, I was drawn to this cropped high neck black tank top from Forever 21. You would be shocked to know how many black tank tops I already have in my wardrobe, but this one seemed to have all the elements I was missing. I knew this tank top would go with any pair of shorts I own and I could wear it for many spring and summers to come. Since it is cropped, I opted for high-waisted denim shorts. Spring in Michigan is still quite chilly some days, so this knit cardigan is the perfect piece to complete the ensemble. I find that this cardigan adds a bohemian vibe to this look, perfect for spending spring days out and about with friends. Finding a pair of shoes to complete the outfit was very simple. I opted for Madden Girl sandals that keep this look very laid-back and comfortable. This spring look is perfect for days out with friends, concerts, or just about anything!

Jewelry-wise I wanted to keep it very understated. A simple initial necklace is something I wear each day and it tied together the silver accents on the sandals and shorts. My earrings were simple studs, and wearing layering bracelets adds a little bit more detail to the simple outfit overall.

Now that the semester is over, I cannot wait to style more outfits from music festivals to trips with friends and family. Spring is finally here and I could not be more ready!
