STYLE GURU STYLE: Spring Spunk

The fall 2015 Miu Miu line balances attention-grabbing patterns, like herringbone and chevron, with textures, like corduroy and satin, in a zany yet sophisticated manner, all with a touch of London prep. Fashion life lesson? A tad bit of eccentricity can make any outfit a stand out. I took a few notes and created a palette perfect for the upcoming spring.

Like a funky Miu Miu ad, I pieced together a few of my favorites, choosing funky colors and textures over bland and nondescript. With my Ramones T-shirt, the look achieves an ease despite other bold moments, similar to this runway snap of the Miu Miu show. I refrain from overwhelming my frame by sticking with an A-line silhouette, courtesy of the brilliant seaming on my Savvy skirt. My toes take a dip in Mediterranean waters, offsetting the Topshop-like edge on top, with Grecian influenced gladiators. I topped it off with a fun, metallic statement necklace, another textural layer in my Miu Miu-inspired combo.

The collection relies on the harmony of loud, individual pieces—quite the fashion anomaly. However, it works! Each model flaunts fun, flirty pieces that pop when paired together, but that could be worn alone, should one desire. As spring hits, mix and match patterns, textures and colors to liven up remnants of winter.  Just remember, summer days are not too far off—dream away in tweed and tulle.

Get My Look: 1. A rocker print screen. 2. A textured basic like my mini. 3. A few funky accessories, like this satchel or a statement necklace.
