STYLE GURU STYLE: Spring it On!

Sweater weather is over and spring has sprung! It’s time to start shedding layers and getting ready for summer! Am I jumping in too early? Let’s just get through spring first. I love the transition into spring, not only for the trends, but for the beauty of it.

I always try to research the upcoming trends to make sure I stay on top of things! Of course, realistic floral was on that list. Floral always seems to stay in, and it’s all over the runway with abstract floral garments from Calvin Klein, Jason Wu and Prorsum; and realistic floral garments from Temperley London, Michael Kors and Victoria Beckham. Not only do I research upcoming prints, but I also look at garments, as well; palazzo pants, were in last summer, and are still carrying over into spring. What inspired me was Ralph Lauren’s spring/summer 2016 ready-to-wear collection, the use of palazzo pants in this runway show were very subtle; no florals were showcased, but I wanted to be bold.

With both floral and palazzo pants in mind, I wanted to spring forward with my favorite pair of high-waisted palazzo pants and an off-white lace bralette top to match. Bralettes have been trending for a while now, and you can’t walk into a store without spotting them. You see people wearing bralettes with blazers, under scoop neck shirts and even open back shirts. These tops are very versatile, which is a reason that they are a must-have. For a daytime look, pair a bralette with your palazzo pants—or flare jeans—wedges and a shoulder bag. If you’re heading out on the town with your girls and don’t really want to wear pants, you can pair the bralette with a high-waisted pencil skirt, a cape blazer, your favorite wedges and a clutch.

To top off my look, I added a statement necklace, tan wedges and a tan shoulder bag. Statement necklaces are my absolute favorite, and I love tying a look together with them. The tan wedges calmed down the look of the floral pants. I wanted to have a neutral bag to match since the pants are on the brighter side. This look is perfect for springing forward and taking on what’s ahead in the new season!
