STYLE GURU STYLE: Spring Into Separates

Spring is all about flowing silhouettes, vibrant hues and showcasing your personal style without hiding it beneath layers of outerwear. Mara Hoffman embodies the transition of spring in a genius and irresistible way in her spring 2015 ready-to-wear collection. Her show combines feminine fits with menswear-inspired pieces for a modern spin that epitomizes the blossoming of spring and her mantra, “Be light.”

To channel the bohemian vibes of her collection, I coordinated bold patterns with simple accessories. Coordinates are a hot trend this spring, and when I laid my eyes on this pair of palazzo pants with a matching loose-fitting top, I fell in love. Floor-sweeping pants help to embody the airiness of spring, and the boxy shape of the blouse maintains the silhouette of the whole look. The pair balances neutral tones with bold colors and is perfect for heading to class or meeting the parents. Plus, since the matching is done for you, you just grab the two and you’re out the door. The pieces make a bold statement on their own, so to accessorize I wore a gold chevron midi ring for a bit of shine. My purple Coach wristlet was the perfect touch for the look, as it kept up with the coordination of colors throughout my entire outfit. Every one of my looks needs an edgy aspect, so I placed my favorite leather jacket over the ensemble to fight off the April chill.

Mara Hoffman’s spring show inspired me to display my feminine side with great lengths, and welcome the season with colors that match the flowers that will soon be in bloom.

Get My Look: 1. A pair of palazzo pants. 2. A colorful wristlet. 3. A detailed midi ring.
