STYLE GURU STYLE: Spring Change

In my opinion, fashion thrives during fall and spring. All other months fail in comparison of the fashion possibilities. Winter is entirely too chilly to rock a cute outfit, all you want to do is throw on a puffy coat, and during the summer months, clothing is limited due to the intense heat. Personally, spring is my favorite fashion season. The spring 2017 ready-to-wear runways were filled with color and new trends that provided true inspiration.

When the days are cold and the nights are short it can be super difficult to find motivation when choosing an outfit. Black is almost always my go-to color, it’s simple and allows for endless possibilities. However, as the winter months transition to warmer days, I try to incorporate as much color as possible into my look. Spring is all about pops of color and I couldn’t love it more! It’s refreshing to change it up from my go-to black staple.

For this specific look I decided to experiment with my typical black on black base. Currently, I am obsessed with leather and everyone knows leather and heat do not mix! Luckily, the spring breeze creates an ideal temperature to sport your favorite leather trends. I paired a simple black T-shirt with a black leather miniskirt, giving my edgy look a casual vibe. The bright pink lips on the T-shirt stand out and pair effortlessly with the skirt. Even though spring creates a warm atmosphere, we can’t quite escape those Philadelphia winds, so I threw on a light wash jean jacket to combat the occasional chill. I’m all about accessorizing, but for this look I kept it minimal. Sometimes simple is always better. I chose black sunglasses and gold jewelry, giving me a little sparkle. Lastly, I grabbed a comfy pair of nude heels to complete my look.

Mixing up your black staple pieces is always a great place to start when trying to get in a spring rhythm. Spring is all about light colors and cool trends. Start small at first and rework your winter style, but don’t be afraid to try something new. Eventually, you’ll look like you stepped right off a spring runway!
