STYLE GURU STYLE: Sporty-Chic

Mercedes-Benz New York Fashion Week for fall 2015 has came full circle. I can only imagine how hectic the city was from February 12th through the 19th—in a good way, of course. I have been scanning all the shows on Style.com and spotted some major trends such as tuxedo styles for women, sheer layers and lots of fringe. However, Tommy Hilfiger really caught my eye with his sporty-chic looks and a football field astroturf runway. I am head over heels for all the letter jacket inspired cardigans and sweaters. As for the jersey Hilfiger dresses, don’t even get me started. They are to die for. I also love the fabric choices for this collection specifically the metallics and yummy tweeds.

Seriously inspired by Hilfiger’s runway, I wanted to create a fun look with one of my many sporty T-shirts. Baseball T-shirts, varsity-inspired sleeves and cropped jersey style T-shirts are staples for a sporty girl. When it comes to personal style, I lean towards the girly side. I dressed up my sporty look with some unexpected pops of color and accessories to make it more “me.” I have found that starting with one accessory helps you find a color scheme and direction for the rest of your look. I started with my pink cross-body and picked some matching statement necklaces. As for the socks, it was minus six degrees outside so they were necessary. Sometimes the combinations you don’t expect turn out to be the best, like my clog and tube sock combo!

Get My Look: 1. A football-inspired striped sleeve shirt. 2. Knee-high tube socks in every color. 3. A statement necklace.
