STYLE GURU STYLE: Spice Up Your Athleisure

It is now a few months into the new year and, by the look of the empty gym, people have already given up on their New Year’s resolutions. I’m a true believer that people should stay active all year long; for some, it just takes a little while to find a workout they love, for others it takes a little more effort. I did a small experiment and found that the cuter the gym outfit, the better the workout.

For a week, I went to the gym in some old shorts and a baggy T-shirt. Then for another week, I went in comfy leggings and either a tank top or a fitted T-shirt. The second week, I definitely felt way better and these cute outfits even elevated my mood, which allowed me to focus and get the most out of my workout. Athleisure is becoming a huge trend and many clothing lines had their models in athletic wear during this year’s New York Fashion Week. But designer Chloé was the first to break out a tracksuit on the runway. I’ve always been the girl to wear athletic clothes every second of the day unless I’m going out so this inspired me to rock it with even more confidence.

I know looking cute for the gym sounds outrageous and by no means am I suggesting sweating in a full face of make up (this causes breakouts and wrinkles), but a cute outfit helps. My go-to workout outfit is usually a pair of black leggings with a cotton T-shirt and my favorite pair of running shoes. To make the “workoutfit” a little cuter and to add some extra warmth, I usually throw on my hooded jean jacket. Throw your hair up in a cute, high ponytail and add a pair of sunglasses and you’ll be good to go. I promise it’ll boost your mood and confidence, giving you a more energetic workout.

Get My Look: 1. A pair of lululemon leggings. 2. Nike running shoes. 3. A Champion tank top.
