STYLE GURU STYLE: So Haute, Haute Damn

The BCBGMAXAZRIA spring ready-to-wear collection showcased the bohemian fashion trend in a high fashion way. Elegant, gauzy blouses and longer, whimsical lengths is what designer Lubov Azria concentrated on for the line while still trying to maintain a free- spirited look to the runway collection. The collection includes neutral and light colors as well as a drapery and loose-fitted style to its pieces.

BCBG inspired my outfit choice featured above. My long sleeve blouse is loose fitting and creates the drapery effect that BCBG’s line focused on. The material of the blouse is gauzy and lightweight, making it a good blouse for a cooler summer night or as a fall top. Pairing the blouse with a pair of high-waisted Levi Brand Jeans added a more casual feel to the outfit, and it still plays off of the ’70s look everyone wants to modify and re-create. Together, the blouse and jeans work to make a look that is chic and ready to go out in. The outfit is paired with metallic gold wedge sandals and gold accessories, including a statement necklace, large earrings and a studded Steven Madden shoulder bag.

When first looking at the outfit, it may not appear a typically bohemian, but while taking in the fabric, cut and color of the blouse, it fits the criteria for a modified version of the look. The metallic accessories and the high-waisted jeans add a ’70s look but in a modernized way. Though not the typical look most are seeing these summer days, with certain fits and fabrics, someone can add the key ideas of a free-spirited look to their outfit without all of the hippy-ness.

Get My Look: 1. A drapey blouse. 2. High-waisted jeans. 3. Statement accessories.
