STYLE GURU STYLE: Slits For the Win

There are precisely two times a year that I constantly obsess over my Instagram feed and wish that teleporting myself to New York was a possibility–I’m talking about fashion week. During the time I’ve spent glued to my phone this past week, I absolutely lost it when I laid eyes on this look from the Altuzarra fall ready-to-wear show. The 1970s inspired collection consisted of dreamy fur accents, sharply tailored separates, luxe detailing and countless pieces with thigh slits. Even if it’s technically spring in my neck of the woods, I couldn’t help but find myself inspired by the collection. I decided to embrace some fall 2015 trends and test out a skirt with a thigh-high slit.

While the look that made me weak in the knees featured a stunning fur collar and a killer pair of over-the-knee boots, I had to make a few modifications to make the look appropriate for the mild weather we’ve been having. As I wanted to lean towards the more minimalistic side of the spectrum, I opted for an oversized turtleneck sweater in a neutral hue. I chose a skirt that was in a lighter fabric to make my outfit a little more suitable for the weather. While I can definitely see myself slipping on a pair of thigh-high boots as seen on the runway, I decided to put on my go-to pointed ankle boots instead for a look that’s perfect for the transition from winter to spring.

As much as I wish it was 20 degrees cooler in my area, you’ll definitely find me incorporating some Altuzarra inspired looks into my wardrobe this season.

Get My Look: 1. A knitted sweater. 2. A pencil skirt with a thigh slit. 3. A pair of pointed toe ankle boots.
