STYLE GURU STYLE: Slimming Black

Something I can always count on to never go out of style is the color black. It’s effortlessly chic, slimming and, best of all, it goes with everything. Spring is in full bloom, meaning I’ve already exhausted all the florals in my wardrobe. Thus, I thought I would wander back to my darker side to contrast all the sunshine.

For this look, I took inspiration from Alexandre Vauthier’s spring 2016 couture collection. My favorite looks in this line incorporate all black, thigh-high boots and hight necklines, which is quite different from what I typically see for spring lines.

What I love about the change in weather is that I can cut back on the layers and finally show off simple, individual pieces. My current favorite is my black bodysuit that smooths everything out and looks stunning with any mini skirt. I don’t have to worry about it becoming scrunched up or looking boxy. Instead, it accentuates my figure. I paired it with a textured black mini skirt with strips of white, to add something eye catching to the look. I finished off the outfit with my over-the-knee boots that covers a bit more skin for when the air gets a bit chillier. Trying to stay with simple elements, the only jewelry I added was a simple silver necklace with my first initial on it.

A look like this would be perfect for a night out with friends and could be paired with a leather jacket if the weather gets cooler. The bodysuit feels freeing with the outfit and allows plenty of movement, a must for me in the spring and summer. This outfit is completely cuts out any fuss, making for a carefree occasion.

Get My Look: 1. Black bodysuit. 2. Textured mini skirt. 3. Over-the-knee boots.
