STYLE GURU STYLE: Simplicity is Key

Out with the old, and in with the new. Summer is over and the season of fall has officially begun. Personally, fall has always been my favorite season, especially when it comes to fashion. A good amount of my wardrobe consists of black and maroon, so with the leaves falling and the trees dying, it’s the perfect time to show off all my favorite outfits.

This look was inspired by Bella Hadid after she filmed a video with Vogue on “jet-lag beauty.” I love her simple makeup in combination with a slicked-back topknot and instantly had to incorporate it into my everyday style. I decided to start this look off with my hair and makeup and style myself from there. I wore this look to an 8:00 a.m. class so I very much did look like what Bella described as “dead.” To make myself appear more “alive,” I contoured my face with Benefit Cosmetics’ Hoola Bronzer and some light mascara. Once I was pleased with my face, I applied a nude lipstick that I’m currently obsessed with.

While a topknot is versatile, I chose to go with a preppier look with my sleek hairdo. I wore my high-waisted circle skirt and paired it with a striped crop top so the outfit was classroom appropriate. As soon as the weather hits about 60 degrees, you can expect to find me in long sleeves all the time. I am obsessed with the high-collared trend, so this outfit will definitely be a staple item in my wardrobe this season.
