Now that I live in Atlanta, my access to local eateries and boutiques reinforces the importance of shopping small. Gone are the days of Chipotle and Starbucks after I discovered The General Muir and Doctor Bombay’s Underwater Tea Party, which offer the Matzah ball soup and high tea that I have convinced myself that I need in my life.

In terms of clothing—which all of you non-foodie Fashionistas/os were probably dying for me to mention—Little Five Points’s Euclid Avenue hosts a variety of shops. From a designer consignment store whose assistant shopper could very well be the doppelganger of #RichKids of Beverly Hills’s E.J. Johnson to Rag-o-Rama, Little Five by no means lacks aesthetically beautiful clothing. On a recent trip to the latter of these two eccentric shops, I sported my favorite faux fur coat with a black ensemble that speaks volumes about my wardrobe. Bright colors? At the moment, these are non-existent in my closet.

During my stint in Little Five, several workers from Atlanta’s newest store in Lenox Square Mall, Topshop (yes, Topshop!), handed out gift cards and goodie bags to advertise their grand opening weekend. Even though I am definitely partial to the small shops this city offers, Topshop houses pieces—such as these patent fringe loafers—that may be difficult to locate in a boutique. Plus, Topshop is known for its bold clothing that may just inspire me to add a pop of color to my wardrobe.

However, just as every item we sport, this black outfit of mine does have history behind it. Recently, the Armine Privé spring 2015 couture show featured tulle skirts like the one I wore while boutique-hopping. This material provided the models with a refined look that made each of them give off an, “I have all my ducks in a row; how about you?” vibe as they strutted down the runway. However, one thing I noticed about this show was the use of sea-inspired shades that brought life to each of the outfits. This will definitely inspire me to scour Topshop for their boldest shades when I visit the Lenox location.
