Schiaparelli is back in the game for the second haute couture show now, and I think everyone is excited to be seeing this name again! Designer Marco Zanini’s fall 2014 couture collection was absolutely thrilling, while still following the codes of the house and remaining current in today times. It finally seems like that void of a more theatrical designer that has been missing for some time now, has been filled again. We all know Schiaparelli to be more theatrical and always pushing the limits rooting back to the “shocking pink” days. The shock factor has always been a big part of the house and this collection did not disappoint. What really stood out to me in this collection were the showy fabrics, some hints of surrealism and especially, the hats! The hats literally left me so speechless that I can’t find a word to describe just how wonderful they were. So the question is how can we take some of these over the top outfits into an everyday look?
I thought that the use of leopard print throughout the collection was the key. The Schiaparelli-inspired outfit was centered on this leopard print pleated midi skirt from Express. Next, I decided to pair the skirt with a simple white cropped T-shirt. To really pull together this look, I put on this hot pink blazer because I didn’t think I could do a Schiaparelli-esque look without the “shocking pink”. On my feet, I did these chunky platform sandals. To finish it off, I wore a white flower statement necklace and my hair up in a sleek, high ponytail.
I believe that this Schiaparelli aesthetic is timeless and always a great way to add some life into your weekly outfits. With fun prints like this leopard one or bold colors like “shocking pink,” how can anyone be anything but happy? So take a risk this week and try out this couture-inspired look!
